And so the adventure begins. . .

A different adventure, one we are all in together.

Hi friends! Many of you have texted, called, and emailed me asking how all this coronavirus activity is impacting our travel plans so I thought I would post an update. It seems to change daily but we did finally make the call (it was sort of made for us) to cancel the April leg of our trip.

I can’t remember if I wrote about this but a few months ago we made the decision that we wanted more time to explore Greece, Croatia and Slovenia so we decided to save that for a future trip. Perhaps next summer. But we kept our plans to head back to Europe after our US visit. We were booked to depart April 1st, flying SFO to London. The plan was two weeks in London with a possible flight to Ireland and then two weeks in Switzerland with friends of ours who were coming over from Italy. That trip is obviously not going to work out. So, four hours on the phone with United and I was able to cancel and re-book us for a trip to London over Thanksgiving break. The best part was we received an additional credit! More travel : )

So where are we now with our year of travel? Well we are technically still "on schedule" as we had always planned for Bill to be in KY for these 2 weeks with the kids and for me to stay in Novato. The plan for me was to catch up on my doctors appts, organize our summer plans, visit with my friends, do a couple overnights with my girlfriends and of course spend time with mom and dad. Well, as is the case for many of us, those plans changed. My new plan---spend time with mom and dad. Apparently, they will be the only people I see for the next 3 weeks closer than 6 feet. Fortunately, we like each other. Bill and the kids are in KY and while not under the same restrictions, are still being very cautious. Now the question is, when and how do they get home? Good thing I have plenty of time on my hands to figure it out.

Hang in there people. Stay healthy and remain grateful. And, for those friends still traveling the world, sending extra strength your way, especially those of you encountering all the closed borders. Keep me posted on how it is out there. We plan to return to travel in May, but of course that is all TBD. . .

All set!

All set!
