Harry Potter!
Backing up a couple of days -
The kids and I left Scotland on Saturday January 18th. Melina and I are both feeling better, not back to 100% but close. We headed out from Aviemore at 7:30am to catch our plane from Inverness to London. Originally when we booked this leg of the trip, we had planned to take the train from Aviemore to Glasgow and down to London—-make a journey out of it, take in the countryside, etc. But, the stars did not align for that to happen since Bill was in SF and the train service was iffy due to the weather. The kids and I looked into the train and it was way pricey, and lengthy with many connections, so we opted to fly which was 1/3 of the price. Of course, getting to the airport was not without complication. We had to leave too early to take the bus, the trains were weather dependent and there was no uber. So, taxi it was. As my mom and I often say, “money may not buy happiness but it sure can buy simplicity and that makes me happy.” So, we paid the price for the 45 minute taxi ride to the airport and off to London we went to meet up with Bill. We met him at the airport and grabbed an uber to our next hotel.
The kids were SO excited about this leg of the trip because of none other than - HARRY POTTER!! We went to Harry Potter World on Monday and spent all day there. It was really cool (and remember I am not even a HP fan!). For those of you who don’t know, Melina wants to major in Chemistry or Geology and minor in costume design/special effects so she really loved the special effects make-up part and all the prosthetics.
Halfway through the tour there is a place to stop and eat and Mel noticed a sensory room off to the side. I have to hand it to Warner Brothers—-it was genius. Zach definitely needed a break and the room was perfect for him. 20 minutes in the egg chair and he was good to go for the second half of the tour.
