Goodbye Koh Lanta
We soaked in every last possible moment in Koh Lanta, even asking for a late checkout which was granted thanks to Zach’s charming personality and blond hair : ) We decided to go back to Krabi the same way (hired driver) so off we went through town, bridge, car ferry boat pushed by the tugboat, and through random side of the road toll stops. Took about 2.5 hours and was super comfortable in a great van with AC. $85 total. Worth every single penny. Door to door. We arrived the airport way early but better early than missing our flight.
Krabi is a super small airport and there was no lounge, so Bill was forced to hang out with the rest of us commoners. Although, he didn’t bring his actual club card so it has been hit or miss on the airport lounges that will actually let him in. They don’t accept anything electronic so you have to have the actual card which is somewhere in the Sonoma storage unit. Oops.
Off we went from Krabi back to Bangkok—our 5th visit to this airport this month. We opted to pay a little more (still very reasonable) and stay at the hotel in the airport. I LOVED it. It was so perfect. Walked right over after grabbing our bags, checked in and were in the room in no time. Best part was whatever time you check in, you can check out a full 24 hours later. Love that! We arrived around 9pm and our flight to Singapore left the next night at 9pm which meant we had a full day to lounge at the pool/eat lunch at the pool bar, explore, sleep, catch up on work, draw, hit the spa, anything! We made the most of it although I did miss the yoga by the koi pond with fresh juices after. Have to save something for next time, right?
So goodbye Bangkok. Goodbye Thailand. We are headed to the Great Barrier Reef (Zach’s pick) via Singapore. We had to layover somewhere and opted for Singapore. Had hoped to stay a few days but timing didn’t work out. This particular leg of the flight was actually the most complicated to book and the most frustrating. Sucked up days of my time this summer and at one point I had Zach on the phone with one airline, me on the phone with another and Melina online searching as I called out different scenarios from across the pool. We laugh about it now. Well at least we will see the airport which we have heard is amazing and we will keep Singapore on the list to return to on our next adventure.
