Thailand recap
Because we can’t stop talking about it. More recap on Thailand as we sit on the beach in Australia.
We all enjoyed Thailand so much. More than we expected I think. We knew it would be memorable but it really was incredible. We’d definitely do things differently if we came back so I have to write myself some detailed notes so I remember!
What was your favorite part of Thailand?
Melina: I really enjoyed when we went on the snorkeling trip on mom’s birthday to the two islands Ko Rok and Koh Ha. It was really beautiful and we also got to see a bunch of little baby black tip sharks.
Zach: Snorkeling was my favorite part, especially with the black tip reef sharks. They were so cool. Fishing too.
Bill: My favorite part of Thailand by far was Koh Lanta. The resort was super relaxing, on the beach. It was super mellow. I also really enjoyed the snorkeling trip on Sharon’s birthday — it was probably the most amazing water experience I’ve ever had and I’m saying that while staring at the great barrier reef right now and I feel like it was 10 times better.
Sharon: All the amazing colors were my favorite part. Probably the most colorful country I have been to. The people, the warm water at the beach and sand that felt like cotton candy. Oh and the super cheap Thai massages—-definitely going to miss those!
What was your favorite food?
Melina: I really enjoyed all the different types of pad Thai I got to eat; it was really delicious.
My favorite place to get it was on the beach so you had a beautiful view of the sunset while you were eating.
Bill: My favorite food in Thailand was basically all the noodles I don’t even know the names of everything we ate but everything we ate was super good except for the tacos that I had which as you can imagine were not super great or authenticio.
Zach: My favorite was the smoothies.
Sharon: So many vegan options! Loved everything here that was vegan. And the coffee, so good.
Would you go back to Thailand, and if so, where specifically?
Melina: I would definitely go back to Thailand. I would like to go back to Koh Lanta probably to the same resort but I would like to spend more time there. Also Bangkok to the night market.
Zach: Yes! Koh Lanta or Chiang Mai because I liked them both. The beaches in Koh Lanta and the massages on the beach. And the fish feet nibbles in Chiang Mai.
Bill: I would definitely go back to Thailand. I would be willing to give Chiangmai another try but I would prefer to stay in the old city as opposed to just outside. I would definitely go back to Koh Lanta. I think there’s a lot to explore on the islands so I would definitely hop around - maybe get a jeep or a scooter this time. It made me more interested in exploring that southern coast of Thailand.
Sharon: More time in Koh Lanta and I would explore other islands as well, skip the overnight in Krabi, hire an all day tour guide with AC for Bangkok and stay in inside the walls in Chiang Mai—-although I would stay at the same villa and just day trip into the old city.
