On to Florence

Headed out for our train ride to Florence and arrived about 6:30pm. Walked to our Airbnb from the train station and up 5 flights of stairs. Glad we packed light! Winded, we met our hosts who own the apartment next door. A lovely couple with a daughter, about 10 months old. Super cute. They showed us around and we settled right in as Melina had to complete a math test before the deadline. Math test complete, we headed to the grocery for dinner supplies and breakfast for the next morning. I’m not sure why, but travel days can be tiring. Seems silly since we were sitting on the train for hours. Maybe that is it, the sitting? Who knows.

It rained all night—-loved it! And continued the next morning so we moved our 10am tour to 2pm. The weather cleared about 11 and we headed out to explore. Morning break was at the Piazza della Repubblica—one of the department stores has a great rooftop terrace with beautiful views. Cappuccinos, hot chocolates, views and back down to ride the merry-go-round before meeting up with our tour guide for our 2.5 hour walking tour.
