It's a small world

Funny story I forgot to write about — On our last day on Fitzroy Island, we went out on the glass bottom boat tour. It really was a snorkeling trip to Hidden Beach on the other side of the island. I was the only one who didn’t get in the water and also the only one trying not to vomit. So, while everyone was checking out the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, I was chatting with Josh, our boat captain. He asked where I was from and I said the United States, California. He said, “Oh I have been there, just north of San Francisco, a place called Novato. Stayed for 3 months.” No way. I almost fell off the boat (but I remembered the deadly invisible jellyfish and quickly got my footing). So funny. It turns out his sister lives there with her 3 kids all in middle and high school — I am sure we have many mutual friends (I’m sure between Katie/Amy and my mom I’ll hear of several overlaps). We chatted about Novato and his sister who is a doctor at Kaiser. I told him I would look her up when we finally settle back down next summer. He was super nice (as it seems are all the Aussies we have met). Small world.
