Hello London (Take 1)

We’ve been all over London and guess what? No rain! Well, it sprinkled on Mel and I for a few minutes when we left The National Gallery, but that was it. It has been beautiful here, cold but completely fine, as we came prepared. We have had a busy couple of days. We went on a 2.5 hour walking tour to kick off our stay and then explored all over on our own. There are so many Christmas markets! This first London visit is only 4 days, so we are making a list of all the places we want to see when we return in January for a much longer stay.

So far we have explored -

Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, The National Gallery, St. James’s Palace, Buckingham Palace, The Mall, St. James’s Park, Churchill War Rooms, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Selfridges (really wanted to see the holiday window displays), London Bridge, Tower of London (although we didn’t get to go in so will do that in January). I have assigned each kid a report on a person who was held in the Tower and they will be the tour guide when we return.

And of course - THE LORD CLYDE PUB! Can you believe it was 2 minutes walking distance from our hotel?! Stumbling upon this was certainly not planned but an exciting surprise. We went for drinks, and of course looked through all our Clyde pictures while we were there. I thought about FaceTiming mom so we could get Clyde on camera in one of the pictures but that felt like a little too much : )
