Goodbye Lake Tahoe
After 10 weeks in Lake Tahoe we packed up this morning and headed back to the Bay Area. 10 weeks, two bear sightings and a wrap for 9th and 4th grade. While not having a home during a shelter in place order does create some challenges, we continue to learn flexibility and adaptability are key. We’re becoming experts at both. We will be forever grateful for the kindness of Lauren, who manages the resort where we stayed and took us in after our abrupt exit from Incline and allowed us to stay well beyond our initial plans. Remember, look for the helpers, look for the kindness. It is out there.
For now we are heading back to the Bay Area to get ready to settle into our summer home (mom and dad’s). They leave Friday and we will head over once they depart. Until then we’ll stay in San Rafael at the hotel next to where Bill and I both worked (and Kevin) back in our younger days. Looking forward to taking the kids on my old lunchtime walk loops and I know Bill is looking forward to his old running route.
Goodbye to beautiful Tahoe for now. We will miss the crisp mountain air, waking up to birds chirping at the window, being in the trees and the stillness . It’s been easy to keep our distance up here—just us and the bears. While I hear there has been some wildlife activity at mom and dad’s house (raccoons) I don’t anticipate seeing any more bears enjoying their morning bath. At least I hope not....I plan to be in that pool!
