A lovely weekend

Saturday: Feeling better, we headed out for a full day. . .

Started our Saturday at Darcie and May Green for breakfast. It’s on Grand Union Canal and it’s a floating restaurant. It was delicious. Explored Little Venice after breakfast and the adjoining parks in the neighborhood.

Paddington Pawprint Trail

We picked up the map for the Paddington Pawprint Trail after breakfast and found 4 right away on our walk (forgot to get a pic of one of them). We’ll find the remaining Paddington statues in the coming days.

Headed toward Hyde Park and made our way over to South Kensington (so lucky with the weather—still walking everywhere). We had planned to spend the afternoon at the Science Museum and History Museum but only made it to the Science Museum as there was so much to see and do. We’ll save the History Museum for another day. The Science Museum had a huge space exhibit and an equally engaging autonomous exhibit, so both kids were engaged for hours. Melina found the Top Secret exhibit on the bottom floor which was super cool. It was all about code-breaking and secret communications. Fascinating.

When we reached our max at the museum we headed over to the Ampersand Hotel for the afternoon Science Tea. Definitely a splurge, but such a fun, interactive experience. So glad we made reservations, it was packed!

Sunday: A day of rest.

Well a day of rest for Zach and I at least. Bill and Melina headed out in the morning to go on the Beatles walking tour and then spend the afternoon at the Tate. Zach and I opted to stay in and read, catch up on some schoolwork, do laundry, watch the Paddington movie and just chill. The place we are staying is great—-it’s a corner apartment in Paddington, 3 stories. Bottom floor is just the entrance, second floor kitchen and living room with huge windows overlooking the cute London streets and pubs below. Third floor has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Mel is thrilled because she gets her own room with a queen bed as Zach found an air mattress which he is sleeping on in our room (it is a big room) and getting a kick out of refilling it multiple times. There is a washer/dryer which is great and much needed.
